Pro V1 vs Pro V1x: which should you play?
Both are Titleist's flagship tour balls, both are excellent, and they cost the same. The choice comes down to three things: ball flight, spin, and feel. Here's the plain-English version.
Pro V1: lower flight, softer feel
The Pro V1 flies a touch lower, spins a little less off the driver and long irons, and feels softer at impact. It's a 3-piece ball. If you like a penetrating ball flight, want maximum roll-out, or just prefer a soft feel on putts and chips, the Pro V1 is your ball. It's the most-played ball on tour for a reason.
Pro V1x: higher flight, more spin, firmer feel
The Pro V1x flies higher, spins more (especially into greens), and feels a bit firmer. It's a 4-piece ball with a slightly larger core. If you want to stop the ball quickly on approach shots, tend to hit it low, or like a higher trajectory, the V1x gives you that extra height and stopping power.
Quick way to choose
- Pick Pro V1 if: you want a softer feel, a lower flight, and more roll.
- Pick Pro V1x if: you want a higher flight, more greenside and approach spin, and a firmer feel.
- Not sure? Most amateurs are happy with either. The honest truth is that on the course, the difference is subtle — both are far better than losing a premium ball you paid full price for.
The smart move: play them used
A new dozen of either runs around $55. We sell hand-graded used Pro V1 and Pro V1x by the 2-dozen box for a fraction of that, in Near Mint / Mint shape — so you can play tour balls without flinching every time you tee up near water.
